Hello Tweets and other birders,

Nor the Redwing at Olympia or the Baikal Teal at the Kent"ponds"(Washington State)were noted today, despite extensive coverage at both areas. We visited Olympia this morning between 8:30am-11am with about 10 other birders and the near lack of Am.Robins was very evident at most locations we checked. Several birders figured that due to the recent warm temperature that the "regular" flocks of Am.Robins that have been persisting in the area may have moved on,possibly north and the Redwing probably being with those flocks. We left the area for others to continue the search and arrived at the Kent"ponds" just after 12pm,where we joined a few birders along the paved trail. The "central" canal continued to be the most productive location for any waterfowl with scattered groups of Green-winged Teal and other waterfowl noted throughout the afternoon until we left just before 4pm. A pair of Bald Eagles and up to 4 River Otters kept the waterfowl agitated and "skittish" at times, but we figured that there were still good numbers of waterfowl still hidden under the dense vegetation of willows and other overhanging vegetation.

We left Matt Bartels to continue the search as conditions became darker with fading light. Matt mentioned to us that he relocated the adult Glaucous Gull along 212th Street between 2pm-2:30pm,where the bird was amongst a gull flock in open fields(north of 212th Street).

Good birding,
