On 19 Jan Mike and MerryLynn Denny found an adult male WILLIAMSON'S
SAPSUCKER near the corner of Spring and Harrison in southwestern Walla
Walla, Walla Walla Co WA. This is just north of Pioneer Junior High and just
east of Jefferson Park. According to residents, the bird has been around
about 2 months.

An adult RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER was in Milton-Freewater, Umatilla Co OR on
16 and 17 Jan, according to Mike and MerryLynn Denny. Exhaustive searches on
the 18th and 20th failed to relocate the bird.

On 22 Jan in Wallowa Co OR, several good birds were found according to Paul
Sullivan. A CACKLING GOOSE was on Pete's Pond in Enterprise, an AMERICAN
TREE SPARROW along Repplinger Lane east of Enterprise, a LAPLAND LONGSPUR
and 20 SNOW BUNTINGS along Golf Course Road 5 miles NW of Enterprise, and a
RUSTY BLACKBIRD along OR 3 about 1 mile north of Enterprise near the buffalo
ranch.

On 23 Jan Charles Swift found 2 female RUSTY BLACKBIRDS at the University of
Idaho Sheep Farm in Moscow, Latah Co ID. They were with a large flock of
starlings. The farm is northeast of the Palouse Mall on the western edge of
Moscow. From Winco, head north past the theatre. At the stop sign continue
straight toward the wood chip pile. Follow the road as it winds back to the
farm.

The EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL is persisting at Neppel Landing Park in
downtown Moses Lake, Grant Co WA according to Doug Schonewald. Doug saw the
bird again on 21 Jan and indicates the best location to view the teal flock
is from the dead-end of Dogwood Street to the west of Broadway Avenue. WA
DeLorme 69, D-6.

An adult MEW GULL was at Wolf Lodge Bay, Lake Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai Co ID
on 21 Jan according to Kris Buchler, Stephen Johnson, and Lisa Hardy. Wolf
Lodge Bay is at I-90 exit 22 east of Coeur d'Alene. Check your Birder's
Guide to Idaho p 51. ID DeLorme 60, B-2. Nearby, they found a THAYER'S GULL
at the North Idaho College beach. To get there from the intersection of US
95 and Northwest Blvd on the south end of CdA, take Northwest Blvd southeast
about 0.5 mile and turn right onto Lincoln Way. Go one block and turn right
onto River Avenue. Follow River Avenue about 0.25 miles to Rosenberry Drive
which runs along the top of the dike along the river. See A Birders' Guide

At Lower Monumental Dam on the Snake River between Franklin Co and Walla
Walla Co WA on 22 Jan, Mike and MerryLynn Denny saw a lot of gulls.
Highlights were 16 GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS, 2 MEW GULLS, a THAYER'S GULL, a
WESTERN GULL, and a second winter GLAUCOUS GULL. Lower Monumental Dam is
about 5 miles south of Kahlotus. WA DeLorme 54, D-4.
