Subject: [Tweeters] Great Blue Herons in Olympia area

Hi Tweeters,

This weekend, my husband and I did a "get to know your new area" drive. We stopped by Woodard Bay Preserve, and out on the main water at the end of the trail we counted 23 GB Herons sitting on pilings. They were mixed in with Cormarants and one mature Bald Eagle.
Seeing this many in one spot, outside of rookery season got us to wondering where know Heron rookeries are in and around Olympia and at what point they start nesting. Anyone know?

Thanks,

Maurie Kirschner
