Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday January 27. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 503-233-3976.

On January 25 a live HORNED PUFFIN was actively feeding between the jetties
at the mouth of the Siuslaw River. It was still in the area the next day,
along with a CASSIN?S AUKLET. Another live HORNED PUFFIN was on the beach at
Manzanita January 24 and was taken to a rehab center.

The southeast Portland BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER and the Coburg FALCATED
DUCK continue to be seen.

The wintering ROCK WREN at Port Orford is still being seen. On January 19
four LONG-TAILED DUCKS, three PIGEON GUILLEMOTS, and a CLARK?S GREBE were at
the North Spit of Coos Bay. The wintering GYRFALCON continues to be seen on
the spit. Up to four OSPREY are wintering in the Coos Bay area. On January
25 two ROCK SANDPIPERS were at Seal Rock State Park south of Newport. An
adult GLAUCOUS GULL was seen January 22 at the Cannon Beach Sewage Ponds.

On January 26 a flock of 54 TRUMPETER SWANS was near the junction of Hwy 99W
and Airlie Road. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW is now being seen at Finley NWR. It
is in a hedgerow on the north side of Bruce Road between the railroad sign
and the tracks. A TURKEY VULTURE was near Cottage Grove January 22. That day
a PYGMY NUTHATCH was coming to a feeder between Cottage Grove and Creswell.

That?s it for this week.
