Tweeters,

I extended my usual morning walk of East and West Bay to include a trip around Capital Lake. Here's what I managed to ID today:

Great Blue Herons - 3 on East Bay, 17 in a batch of trees on the west side of West Bay,
1 more on a piling a little further north, and 1 on the lake, making a total of 22.
Double-crested Cormorant
Bufflehead
Rock Pigeon
Common Merganser
Hooded Merganser
Greater Scaup
Lesser Scaup
Belted Kingfisher
American Crow
Mew Gull
Glaucous-winged Gull
Red-winged Blackbird
E. Starling
House Sparrow
Common Goldeneye (mating...you'ld think it's spring already!)
Barrow's Goldeneye
Pied-billed Grebe
American Coot
Mallard
Ruddy Duck
Ring-necked Duck
American Wigeon
Gadwall
Greater Yellowlegs
Western Gull
Ring-billed Gull
Song Sparrow (singing)
Glaucous-winged x Western Gull

Earlier this week I also saw the following, either on walks or from my yard:

Canada Goose
Surf Scoter
Lesser Yellowlegs
White-winged Scoter
Western Scrub Jay
Spotted Towhee
D.E. Junco
Bushtit
Chestnut-backed Chickadee
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Black-capped Chickadee (singing it's heart out)
House Finch (all 3 color variants: red, orange, and yellow at one time on my feeder!)
Townsend's Warbler
A. Robin
Ceder Waxwing
Downy Woodpecker (male and female in my yard, and the male was trying to find something loud to tap on!)

It's been a birdy week!
