Hello Paul and tweeters,


Today I took you up on you suggestion to look at the Deschutes Parkway Area.But it looked quite and there was no Robin's at all.So we ended again in the old area near Thomas and 4th Avenue east to Sherman Street where Alan and Keith saw the bird last.We took our Olympia map and looked where the bird flew East slightly to the right.We searched the area for two hours with not one Robin to see.Going East and West from 4th Avenue.To we hit Martin Way going south on Boulevard St SE.Ending up on Chambers Street Se.There we are seeing all the activity we had all the weeks the Redwing was sighted We could not count the its good exact numbers of Robin's but it probable was around 50 birds mixed with small amount of Starlings The Birds was flying from there to the Forest Mem.Gardens Cemetery.It was the perfect setting for this birds to perch and feed on the Holy and the Bramble bushes .On Chambers Street the Holy tree was in the back yard you partly could see from the road.Perfect setting for the Redwing to be seen.We spend maybe two hours seeing a lot of birds but we did not find the Redwing.As I stated earlier that this Robin's go North,but there also taken mall stops since it is quite to early to going north where it is still to cold.Chambers Street is easy to access from I-5 taken the Pacific Avenue Exit going south on Martin Way turning left on Boulevard,there is a Shell Gas station on the corner.Chambers Street is on a dead end and you can see the freeway from there.From Chambers you can see the back way to the Cementry.

The House Nr.on Chambers Street was729 the house on the left had the Holy in the back where mostly all the birds was feeding in

A significant flock of robins can usually be found along Deschutes Parkway north of the bridge between the Tumwater brewery and Falls Terrace Restaurant. This location is a few blocks south of Capitol Lake. There are many ornamental berry bushes along this route that runs between I-5 and the Deschutes River. I drove by this spot Monday after finding no robins in "Redwing territory" but saw none here either.

...I been thinking about this sighting and since the Redwing don't go with the large groups of Robin's, there is a slight chance that he went in to a different neighborhood. We kind of searched on Sunday on to the other side from the Capital and had three small groups of Robin,s around 15 birds in each group, it would be interesting this to further searching the area more out. A desperate attempt not to give in that the Redwing really left for good...
