The East L. WA Audubon did its annual Jan. field trip along the W. Seattle
Shoreline. The weather was calm and mostly cloudy. The 27 species seen was
lower than usual, but we had a few good birds. The resident Barred Owl in
Lincoln Park was a special treat. The usual Harlequin Ducks and Brant were
in the small bay just north of the over water apartments south of Alki Pt.
One Pelagic Cormorant was there among a number of Double-crested
Cormorants. The two Greater White-fronted Geese at the Fauntleroy ferry
dock were a pleasant surprise. Expected birds we didn't see this year were:
Black Turnstones, Surfbirds, Common Loons, sparrows, juncos.
