Just wanted everyone to know I saw a grey adult Gyrfalcon at the West 90
(Samish Flats WDFW parking lot). It was kindly pointed out to me by other
birders. It was on the third phone pole from the parking lot (on the road
which heads east back towards the "T"). It was intently scanning the WDFW
land to the south. Another birder picked it up again on a pole further east
later.
Looks just like the one that was here last year. I wonder...
It was a beautiful day on the flats yesterday, not too windy and about 50
degrees. Even some sun.
I was expecting to see a lot more Short Eared Owls. I only saw one all day.
Last winter they seemed to be more numerous. Just my imagination??
