Greetings Tweeters,
Around noon today, Helen Gilbert and I were at the
Montlake Fill behind the softball field and spotted
a large bird of prey with a white cap and whitish throat,
and dark eyepatch, sitting on a log.
Some buffleheads and mallards were untroubled by the bird,
and that helped in identifying it as an osprey--then we
saw the large wingspan when it flew. It held a stick and may be
building a nest.
Adding to the excitement, we saw a beaver close up at the same
location.
