Yesterday I located and photographed a ROSS'S GOOSE on Moses Lake at Neppel
Landing Park. In an attempt to relocate the bird, Marv Breece and I stayed
until almost dark waiting for the geese to come back from the fields. We
were unable to relocate the bird yesterday evening, but few geese had
returned when I left. Marv will be searching this morning.
Bart Whelton also arrived searching for the Eurasian Teal which was not
located.
At the present time there are good numbers of waterfowl at Neppel Landing
including numbers of Redhead, Canvasback, Ring-necked Duck, Lesser Scaup,
Hooded Merganser, in addition to many puddle ducks. Also present were two to
three swans which appear to be sub-adult TRUMPETER SWANS.
Neppel Landing Park can be accessed from either Dogwood (a dead-end street)
or Ash Street to the west of Broadway Ave. Several areas of Moses Lake have
thawed, and it might pay to check all areas at this time as the birds often
move about.
