I had an excellent couple of hours in the field this afternoon. There were
hundreds of sparrows near Snohomish, highlighted by a Clay-colored on Short
School Rd. The Clay-colored was on the right side of the road at the three
way intersection. It popped out of the yellow grass and flew into a
blackberry tangle as I was pishing from the road.

Other highlights were a Swamp Sparrow and two male Slate-colored Juncos just
south of where French Creek crosses Snohomish-Monroe Highway on the right
side of the road.

Both of these areas were crawling with sparrows. White-crowned Sparrows
were the most numerous, approximately 2/3 of the pugetensis race and 1/3 of
gambelii. There were also many Golden-crowned, Song, Lincoln's, and a few
Fox and Savannah Sparrows.

If anyone goes to look for these birds, be very respectful of private
property, were you park, ect. The locals in this area don't seem to welcome
birders.

Also, the Bothell Common Teal was still in place this afternoon.
