Rare bird alert for RED-NECKED STINT and out-of-town YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO.


Sightings for Sunday, July 3:

In a late report for Saturday, July 2 at the southwest pond of the Iona
Island sewage ponds, Richmond, a moulting adult RED-NECKED STINT
was seen and photographed at 5 pm. It was seen for 10 minutes with 500
peeps before flying off and was not relocated. Also at Iona, 8 PURPLE
MARTINS were seen.

A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was seen on Road 22 at the north end
of Osoyoos Lake in the Okanagan. Take the southeast dyke along the
Okanagan River. The bird was seen near the radio towers south of Road 22.

At Grant Narrows nature trail in Pitt Meadows, a male AMERICAN REDSTART
was seen near the first log. A female was also reported here. A GRAY
CATBIRD was seen near the washrooms with another seen along
Rannie Road near the bend before Grant Narrows.

At Reifel, 2 HUDSONIAN GODWITS were seen at 2 pm. Also here was a
BULLOCK'S ORIOLE.

In North Delta, 2 BLACK SWIFTS were present near 116 St and 96 Ave.


Sightings for Saturday, July 2:

At Ambleside Park, West Vancouver, 2 GREEN HERONS were seen.

Along the Cypress Bowl Road in West Vancouver, a BLUE GROUSE and 3
chicks were seen.

At Coal Harbour, Vancouver, a LONG-TAILED DUCK was present.

Out of town, the DICKCISSEL continues near Sorrento north of Salmon Arm.


Sightings for Friday, July 1:

At Grant Narrows nature trail in Pitt Meadows, 4 AMERICAN REDSTARTS were
seen.

In Surrey, 50 BLACK SWIFTS were over Green Timbers Park. Nearby were 4
NIGHTHAWKS and a TURKEY VULTURE.

At Lighthouse Marine Park, Pt. Roberts, 100 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS were seen.

Late news for Wednesday, June 29 - at Iona at the southwest corner of the
airport, a VESPER SPARROW was seen. Nearby was a PURPLE MARTIN.
