It seems likely. Nyjer is a food crop in Asia and Africa, as is millet.
The word "nyjer" is a spelling that the industry agreed on fairly
recently. A few years ago incoming nyjer bags had several different
spellings: niger, nyger, etc, coming from several different countries
including Ethiopia and Burma. The seeds are heat-treated before being
imported; I imagine there are worries about the potential of nyjer
becoming invasive here.
