Subject: [Tweeters] bird disease?

Within the last few days I have seen two birds visit my feeders that appear
to be featherless around their eyes, top of head and in one case down the
throat. One is a grosbeak and the other a towhee - both males. Both birds
are active, eating greedily and seem otherwise healthy.

Does anyone know if this localized feather loss is the symptom of some
disease that should prompt me to take down my feeders? We clean them
regularly, but I will take them down entirely if necessary.
