Greetings,

This is my first posting to this list.

Yesterday, 7/7/05, I visited Discovery Park in Seattle. To my amazement I observed a very large congregation of Rhinoceros Auklets at about the West Point lighthouse. Most were not far off shore, they were flying about, landing, diving and otherwise cavorting about. I had some very nice views of their facial features. I counted over 75 Auklets, probably more as some left and others arrived. I have never seen so many in this spot before.

Discovery Park is one of my favorite places. If I have a free day, I like to take the bus to the Ballard Locks and then walk over to Discovery Park and down to the waterfront. I walk around the the lighthouse and as much of the beach as I have time. Then I go back up to the historic part of old Fort Lawton. Makes for a nice walk.
