**RARE BIRD ALERT CONTINUES for the DICKCISSEL (Sorrento)

Sightings for July 10

The male DICKCISSEL was again seen on the 10th along Peterson Road, just E.
of Sorrento (CS).
>From Hwy 1 head south on Notch Hill Road, E. of Sorrento. Make an immediate
left onto White Creek Frontage Road and then another right onto Peterson
Road. Follow Peterson a short distance and the road becomes gravel. The
Dickcissel is being seen 1-200 meters beyond the end of the pavement.

On July 8, a DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT was seen on the dock at Antler's Beach
just S. of Peachland (CoC). Another DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT was seen in
flight over Mission Ck. at the K.L.O Bridge in Kelowna on the 8th (CC,RT).

The EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was again along Heimlich Road off Speers Road in
Kelowna on the 8th (CC,RT).

Two BARRED OWLS were calling in daylight just beyond the cattleguard at km
10 on Beaver Lake Road, E. of Winfield on the 8th (CC,RT).


Sightings for July 7

A pair of EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were along Heimlich Road near Mission Ck
at K.L.O Road (CC). The birds were in the trees in front of the house
address 2005. Two EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were also reported on the
powerlines along Hwy 3 in Cawston in the Similkameen (WW).

Four BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS and many other woodpeckers were reported along
the Kettle Valley Railway at Gillard Ck FSR, S. of Kelowna (GW,m.ob).


Sightings for July 6

An adult BROAD-WINGED HAWK was seen at Dick Canning's residence on Debeck
Road in Naramata (DC,MH).

The DICKCISSEL was again seen on Peterson Rd, E. of Sorrento (DC,RC).

At Robert Lake, in Kelowna, an imm. BONAPARTE'S GULL was present today
(BC,CC).

In Kelowna, along the Mission Creek Greenway in Scenic Canyon Regional Park
(the new portion of the greenway) a male BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD, a female
CALLIOPE and a female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, as well as a noisy VEERY were seen
about 100 meters down the trail from the parking area near a trickle of
water (CC).

Three LEAST FLYCATCHERS were along Sumac Road, off Hwy 3 near the Chopaka
Border Crossing on July 6 (WW).

A few late sightings for July 5 included 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS at Macintyre's
Bluff, S. of Vaseux Lake (WW,DB), 3 BOREAL CHICKADEES at and near Rabbit
Lake on the Shuttleworth Ck FSR, E. of OK Falls (WW,DB), a THREE-TOED
WOODPECKER, 3 km E. of Rabbit Lake (WW,DB).
