with the help of a wonderful tweeter lady, i acquainted myself with wallace
swamp creek park (kenmore) this evening. while it was too late for decent
photographs, the park has enough interesting flying things to get me back
during "regular" daylight hours perhaps as early as this weekend...

among the sights: an active cooper's hawk nest, numerous california quail,
similar numbers of red-breasted sapsuckers (nesting?), and bewick's wrens...
heard lots of others, but i'm still not good enough with the ear to
positively identify most Little Brown Jobs (LBJs)...

on my way home, log boom park called, and finally i saw kevin's purple
martins... i was also surprised to see not just tree swallows but juvenile
barn swallows on the very end of the pier, and a beaver at the beginning of
the pier... and, as usual, an adult bald eagle wandered south, then
north... lots of waterfowl (mostly mallard) in eclipse plumage begging food
from the local fisherfolk... and either my ruddy's have emigrated, or they
had a new hiding spot, one to which i was not privy...
