Subject: [Tweeters] Surprise Blue Heron on Pacific Crest Trail (~5,500 ft.)

My husband and I were setting up camp on Reflection Pond on the
Pacific Crest Trail between Indian Creek and White Pass when suddenly
a very large blue heron descended from over the trees. We were in a
remote meadow at about 5,500 ft. There were a couple of frogs in the
pond whose lives we may have saved since the heron looked at us and
took off. I felt bad to interrupt its hunting, but was surprised to
see a heron so high in the mountains and so far from what I think of
as usual heron spots (low-land rivers, lakes and swampy land).
