Arden and I rushed over to Gearhart,OR to see the Lesser Sand Plover. After searching the lake and marsh area by the church (directions have previously been given) between 11:30 AM and 1 PM. We got something to eat and headed to the estuary and the 10th bird Arden scoped turned out to be the plover among other Semi-palmated Plovers, sandpipers and one Ruddy Turnstone. He quickly drove over to the church and told the others we had it at the estuary. The birds moved around eating, picking a slightly different location here and there. After everyone had seen it, the flock flew and separated. Some flew towards the church area and some flew further out in the estuary. Everyone else left so Arden and I walked out on the mud. The flock let me approach rather closely and just went about eating and moving. Another birded came and got a look at him. Then the birds flew, split again and some flew towards the church. We went back over there and it was found in the southern part of the lake. This was about 3:30 PM. We left for home
