Although I like the Palo Alto Baylands near San Jose for always reliable
birding, I found a nearby place that is great for birding a California oak
woodland habitat. It is Old Page Mill Road; off Page Mill Road, only a few
hundred yards from the entrance to I-280 and very close to Stanford. This road
hosts quite a few bikers but very few cars. There are lots of places to pull
over and park on both sides of the road so the sun is not a problem.

Highlights from a visit last week include Acorn Woodpeckers, Nuttall's
Woodpeckers, Yellow Warblers and Ash-throated Flycatchers.
