As Phil mentioned it was a beautiful day. I did the loop in addition to the birds he noted, there were green heron (at the slough near McCallister creek), 2 common snipe, a morning dove (the first I have ever seen there) also along the dike next to McCallister creek, several young belted kingfishers, a immature red breasted sapsucker (medicine treaty area along McCallister creek), many pied billed grebes (many immature), and a gorgeous Pileated Woodpecker excavating along the main trail near the ring dike. There were sandpipers and what appeared to be dowitchers (which sounded like short billed, I did not have a spotting scope with me) in the main section along McCallister also.
