Made the long trip from Moses Lake/Othello with Bob Flores and Randy Hill
to try for the stint. We went over last night and tried in the evening, but
were unsuccessful.
This morning we arrived at the 3-Crabs early and began to scan the far
shorebirds. At around 8:00 am a small group of peep flew in from the east
and lit at the mouth of the small creek. Among them was the Red-necked
Stint. We were able to view the stint from then until around 8:35 when the
stint flew toward Dungeness Spit.
Several other birders were there early this morning, but most of the
birders showed up just after the stint left. It appears that the stint comes
and goes and I expect that those remaining when we began the long drive home
were probably rewarded.
A very nice bird and thanks to everyone for their posts which enabled us to
make the long trip with some confidence.
