Hi Everyone--

Marcia Marvin and I just completed a very enjoyable trip from Spokane to
Missoula and back over the Memorial Day weekend 5/27-31 to check out birds
and Ice Age flood geology. We didn't do a whole lot of birding within the
borders of Washington on this trip, but since many inland NW birders are
also Tweeters, I'm hoping this gets to people in the right area. Birds of
note included at least four pairs of AMERICAN REDSTARTS from Shady Lane near
Rose Lake, ID (Veery has been here on previous trips, but they seem not to
be in yet) on 5/28; a singing LEAST FLYCATCHER in the large stand of
cottonwoods along Johnson Creek in Clark Fork, ID 5/30; and BOBOLINK aplenty
along Hickey Road east of Ponderay, ID on 5/30. Not rare, but always
enjoyable, a sunflower seed feeder along Stevens Street in Clark Fork was
full of EVENING GROSBEAKS on 5/30.
