Tweets - the weather could have been better, but it ended up raining for
only about an hour this morning, and it didn't rain *that* hard. The
lighting was iffy at times (is that a Tree or a Violet-green?), and we ended
up with an inordinate number of heard-only species, but it was *still* a
good morning at Marymoor.

Highlights:

Caspian Tern Heard one or more near lake
Black Swift Maybe 18-20 overhead after the first rain
RED CROSSBILL 12 in a cottonwood in Snag Row. Marymoor First.

We also saw and/or heard Western Wood-Pewee, Willow Flycatcher, Warbling
Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Swainson's Thrush, Orange-crowned Warbler, Yellow
Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Wilson's Warbler

Breeding evidence:

Green Heron 2 at the lake, maybe 1 adult, 1 imm.
Wood Duck Clutch of 15 ducklings,
another of 2 WODU, 4 HOME 'lings
Hooded Merganser Female with 6 ducklings at Rowing Club
Red-breasted Sapsucker Adult bringing food to nest
Bushtit Adult at new nest at Rowing Club
American Robin 2 spot-breasted young
Cedar Waxwing Adult at nest in large hazelnut
European Starling Many young
Common Yellowthroat Newly fledged bird
Black-headed Grosbeak Male on nest at Rowing Club
American Goldfinch Female gathering nesting material

I've been expecting to see RED CROSSBILL at Marymoor for a long time; I
always thought we'd find them in the Doug Firs near the mansion. To find
them in the eastern-most cottonwood (live) in Snag Row was a real surprise.
They were actively feeding and calling. It was unclear if they were eating
Cottonwood seeds or insects on the leaves (galls) or both.
