Hi Tweeters,
We have had a Hairy woodpecker female regularly coming to our suet feeder since January. We never saw a male until about a month ago. Then last week we started seeing mom with her male chick feeding him suet. The funny part is he was bigger than she was. He is very awkward and had some difficulty flying over to the feeder. Yesterday he started feeding on his own.

We also had a robin family nesting in our veranda roof again this year. Three chicks fledged two days ago and disappeared into the bushes. Now there is a second female robin sitting on eggs on the east side of our house. The males keep watch and battle the jays. There are about 30 some rafters in our roof and the robins have built a nest in every one. I think there is method to their madness. Could it be that they are trying to confuse the Jays?

We also have a juvenile Rufous hummer coming to our feeders.
