I was at a conference at Sleeping Lady Lodge (Icicle Creek Rd,
Leavenworth, WA) from May 20-22 and observed 20+ Black Swifts foraging
high and flying upstream over Icicle Creek on the clear evening of May
20th from the lodge property. Around 5pm on the cloudy afternoon of May
21st, I saw about 5 Black Swifts foraging low with Vaux Swifts over
Icicle Creek at the fish hatchery (about 0.5 mile downstream of Sleeping
Lady) . Both locations are described in the WA bird finding guide and
Black Swifts apparently nest upstream in this watershed.
