There are still nighthawks to be found in the south sound area. Not as
many as in years past, but on a warm June or July night in the Hawks
Prairie area (northeast Lacey) you ought to be able to see half a dozen
or more. Try the Meriwood golf courses, or the industrial areas along
Willamette Drive.

They seem to like recent clearcuts - I suspect that if you were to
explore up in the Capitol Forest, Bald Hills or other active logging
areas you might turn up more.
