A friend called this morning to report that her immediate neighborhoood
has been taken over by a group of belligerent crows. They're hanging
out in the trees, cawing vociferously, and are dive-bombing anyone who
ventures out into the open. My friend is maintaining her sense of
humor. She has a very funny description of her neighbor wearing a
bucket on his head while attempting to take out the trash this morning.
Still, she'd like to work in the garden without fearing she'll be
knocked face-first into the lettuce.

I suggested that there is an active nest nearby, and that the swooping
and cawing and other rowdy behavior will subside once this year's
offspring have dispersed. Does anyone have other ideas or thoughts
about how long my friend and her neighbors might have to wait before
being able to venture outside without protective armor.
