Tweets,

Today I followed up on a hint from Marv Breece about possible nesting Bank Swallows on the Snoqualmie River between Duvall & Carnation in King County. Sure enough, I observed ca. 10 individuals, one leaving an obviously occupied burrow in the east bank of the river in Section 5, T25N, R7E. There were a few N. Rough-wings nearby. The river has cut into the bank at this point. There is a rather overgrown but passable foot track from SR 203 (where gated) west across the Snoqualmie Valley bike trail down to the river. The gated track is ca. 1/4 mile south of Fay Rd. a short distance north of the Stillwater store. Though no Bank Swallows were reported nesting in King County during the breeding bird atlas, this is the second such colony located in the county, the first on the Green River downstream from Flaming Geyser State Park.
