Hi Folks:
Linda Bartlett lives east of the Soos Creek Natural Area which is east of
Kent, WA. Her yard is right next to the woods. She and her husband have
enhanced the yard for wildlife with feeders, water, and brush piles. Here
is their latest yard bird (in the shed).
Yours, Carol Schulz

>From Linda Bartlett, June 5, '05:
Bob has told me there's a bird nesting in the tractor shed, and she just
hunkers down when he's been down there trying to start his ancient bulldozer
a few feet away. He just told me she's a LBB, and has shown the grandkids
the eggs, etc. and I keep forgetting to walk down there and check it out.
Well, I was just blown away a few minutes ago. It's a pair of Pacific Slope
flycatchers!!!!! Nesting on a low 2'x4' ledge, only chest high, just inside
the open shed!!!! The nest is a very soft affair--not sticks, really--the
flycatcher is a small bird. But it's quite adequate for the babies sitting
inside quietly who 'fill the cup'. I'm giving Bob very strict
orders not to mess with that tractor until those babies have fledged....
