Hi Tweeters;
This afternoon I was walking up a trail when I heard something making a
scratching sound on the slope below me under some trees. It sounded
loud enough to be several Ruffed Grouse or some Wild Turkeys so I
imitated the pishing sound of a Barn Owl. But what popped up in front
of me, only 20 feet away, did not wear feathers and weighed at least
200 lbs.; it was a beautiful bear! His coloration was very unusual
having a blond body and a black head. He stood there long enough for me
to take two photos- but he was so close that the camera could not focus
on him! I have been waiting for an encounter such as this for several
years and it was as wonderful as I thought it would be. After studying
me for a minute he disappeared down the hill. So never underestimate
the power of pishing!
