Hi Kevin and Tweeters,

Martin egg laying has begun at the colony on the north end of Camano.
May be able to pin it down closer next time out , but at this point
first clutch was initiated somewhere between June 1 and 4, the
earliest I have ever observed martin eggs here in the north Sound.

Last week some kind of insect hatch there above the lagoon produced a
swarm of Barn, Tree, and VG swallows, with many martins joining in
as well, feeding from the tree tops down to the beach. The previous
few days had been cold and stormy, but during that particular windless
twilight moment the snapping of the birds beaks could be heard as they
caught insects in flight.

Thanks for the description of the kettle.
