Subject: [Tweeters] Merlin in Garfield Co.

Hello All,
Today while performing bird surveys in north central Garfield Co.,
Washington on the Umatilla N.F. I came upon an adult Merlin perched on a
snag above a tributary of Charlie Creek. This bird flew from its perch and
dive bombed something in a large P-pine screaming and then did a half circle
and departed the area. This is the first summer Merlin I have seen on the
Pomeroy Ranger District and strongly suspect a nesting pair in the area.
Later Mike
