Ian Paulson wrote- "From what I can see in the photos the bird looksl
ike a virginia rail. Sora chicks have red feathers on the throat kind
of like a young american coot. I didn't see that on your bird. Virginia
Rail chick's bill is like a pied-billed grebe in breeding plumage with
a black ring towards the tip. Unfortunately your photos don't show the
bill close enough."
