Dear Tweets:

Brian and I stopped at the Fill last evening about 6:30pm for some quick birding before dinner. The very first bird to greet us was an EASTERN KINGBIRD flycatching in the berry shrubs just south of CUH. How delightful, and it was a life bird for Brian. I wonder if this bird will spend the summer with us.

Also seen: Barn, Cliff, Violet-Green and Tree swallows. It was fun to watch the tree swallows taking food to their young in the nest boxes.
A passing birder pointed out a Pied-billed Gree on its nest in the lily pads - Thanks!
We saw Savnnah Sparrows, as well as Song and White-crowned Sparrows, all singing.
An American Goldfinch periodically flew and "dipped" overhead.
Two March Wrens sang from the tops of cattails.
Two Great Blue Herons were stalking their prey, one in a sheltered pond and the other along the lakeshore.
Many, many Gadwalls.
No quail :(
Thanks!
