Hi Tweets

Michael was out of town, so I am submitting this belated report. There were four of us at Marymoor on Wednesday. The day started out cloudy, quickly developed into mist, then drizzle, then rain. It rained steadily for at least 2 hours (no wind). Made birding a bit difficult, but we were able to winkle out a pretty good variety. Finished the day with 55 species and a couple of nice views.

Particularly notable birds were:
Western Gull
Ospreys at the nest
only 10 Bald Eagles over the lake
Bushtit at a nest
Marsh Wren at nest
Black-headed Grosbeak at nest (female at same nest we saw a male last week)
Vaux's Swift - very, very close look along the river
Red-winged Blackbird at nest
Black Swifts - about 30 over lake after rain stopped
Red-breasted Sapsuckers - pair at nest hole with food
Cooper's Hawk - an immature bird along snag row - very close look
Hooded Merganser - female with 2 ducklings
Wood Duck - female with at least 8 ducklings
