Subject: [Tweeters] Seattle Nighthawk sighted

Just saw the long lusted for Seattle Nighthawk out my apartment window at
8:15 pm heading NNW. I ran full speed out the door, down the hall, down the
stairs and into the street barefoot and binocular-less in hopes of hearing
the beloved buzzy call notes that give summer nights their richness. Only
saw the distinctive silhoette and flight pattern flying north in the
distance and out of earshot in the noisy downtown "Junction" of West
Seattle. I imagined it was looking for gravel roofs with scattered egg
sized and shaped stones and a few native bunchgrasses for extra cover.

Then, if only all of those people who had to eat crow did so, summer nights
might regain their color. (actually I have no idea if the crow population
is an important factor)
