Today saw a good number of Caspian Terns along the southwest edge of
Lake Washington (Pritchard Beach to Sayres Park). I've been counting
birds along this stretch for years and these are the first I've
noticed. Pretty cool. Has anyone else been seeing them over the lake?

Also got to share some birding with a family today at Sayres Park.
Initially one of the kids asked me to ID a GBH. Which I happily did,
handing over my binocs so she could take a closer look. Well, the
binocs got passed around and there were lots of oohs and aahs. Then our
attention was drawn to a 2nd year Bald Eagle who was making an
extraordinarily clumsy and noisy attempt to take a Canada Goose from a
flock of about 10 floating on the lake. Like, yeah. The CaGo won that
round, and Bald Eagle retreated to the trees. Then an Osprey hove into
view, flew around the bay a couple of times and nailed a fish. Bald
Eagle sprang from the tree in pursuit with a Crow in close chase.
Osprey cut south and out of range while Eagle and Crow headed east,
right through the path of 2 Caspian Terns.

"I want to get some binoculars", said the girl to her mom as we went
our separate ways.
