such a strange weather and viewing day today...

camera ready THIS time, i once again spotted an outcropping of virginia rail
chicks, but they wouldn't play nice with the lens... river otter continue
to be seen doing their loch ness impression amongst the water lilies...
and, after not having seen the osprey in the park until yesterday, today had
two flying in what little formation two can form into, and both had fish
(catfish, by the looks)...

away from the water, we had ruby-crowned kinglets (a fairly large batch
along the middle of the western boardwalk), our partial-albino red-winged
blackbird and a bullock's oriole male successfully chasing a very large crow
in the meadow just north of the car park, and an adult bald eagle flying the
ridges along forbes creek one mile east of the park... i also photographed
what i think was a willow flycatcher on what i affectionately call the
"warbler tree" at the first dogleg of the middle boardwalk, along with downy
woodpeckers, a pair of red-breasted sapsuckers, a small chortle of tree
swallows "getting together", and some cedar waxwings...
