I spent the day on the Kitsap peninsula where I heard and saw one nighthawk
in the afternoon at camp pond - by Elfindahl pass in mason co on the Tahuya
peninsula. I later heard and saw a number of them over a clearcut off of
lake flora rd. There is lots of gravelly exposed soil in these areas
including many nighthawk sized rounded rocks. I didn't notice crows there,
but heard a raven or two. It was nice to hear their buzzy notes, but it
would be nicer to hear them where I live in Seattle.

I was also pleased to see a Hairy Woodpecker, which I assume is uneventful
there, but I wonder why we don't get them in Seattle.
