On 18 Jun Steve Mlodinow found an alternate plumaged WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER
at the Iowa Dodd beef ponds in western Walla Walla Co WA. The bird was
observed again on 19 Jun by Ruth and Patrick Sullivan. The ponds are located
down Dodd-Iowa Beef Road which is at US 12 milepost 301.5 about 5.5 miles
north of the jct of US 12 and US 730. Follow Dodd-Iowa east about 0.5 miles
past the slaughter house, the road goes down a little hill and then back up.
At the top, turn right onto a gravel road that used to be a railroad grade.
Follow it to settling ponds. WA DeLorme 40, CD-1.

On 15 Jun Tom Munson and Mark Houston found a probable BLUE-HEADED VIREO in
Pend Oreille Co WA. along Dry Canyon Road. This is not far east of the Pend
Oreille River, between Usk and Sullivan Lake. Access is north from the east
end of the bridge at Usk, through the Kalispell Reservation, past the River
Bend community, to (another) LeClerc Creek Road jct. Take this paved road
off the river road a mile or two to a Y, where there is a house with a
strikingly gorgeous yard. At this yard take the road to the left, called the
West Branch LeClerc Creek Road. Follow it north into Dry Canyon from this
spot for about 8 miles, where the best landmarks are the power poles, which
have easily seen numbers. The pole where the vireo was singing about as
incessantly as a Red-eyed is numbered L 69, and is at a bend in the road.
There is also a family of BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS in the area, which
apparently recently fledged from a nearby nest.

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS reported a month ago by Bill and Nancy LaFramboise
at Horn Rapids County Park north of Richland, Benton Co WA were still being
observed through 19 Jun. Ruth and Patrick Sullivan report seeing them then.
>From Richland, take WA 240 toward Vernita. The park is located just past the
Horn Rapids Dam. Turn left toward Benton City to the park entrance. The bird
has been in the day-use area in the smaller group of trees (locust and
cottonwood). WA Delorme 39, AB-5.

The female BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD report a few weeks ago is persisting
near Dixie, Walla Walla Co WA according to Ruth and Patrick Sullivan. The
bird was still visiting a feeder as of 16 Jun. The bird is frequenting
feeders at the home of Tom Lambs. His "Hummingbird Crossing" is south of
Dixie about 2 miles down Biscuit Ridge Road on the right. If you reach
Seaman Road that heads off to the left you have gone too far. It's the house
behind you on the right.

Good birding.
