Hey tweets, Now that the solstice has come and gone, we can only hope that
summer will soon follow suit. Summer, with its heat and humidity, can't exit
fast enough for me! I'm a Seattle girl through and through, so anything over
75 degrees starts the melting process in my brain.

To help me get past the dog days, I go to the Fill and look for signs of
fall. The days are getting shorter, you know, and soon fall migration will
begin. Maybe this year it will begin even earlier than usual because on the
main pond today were a male BUFFLEHEAD and a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, of
all things. The SPOTTED SANDPIPER that has been making its home on the
pond's edges is starting to fade his spots a bit, and all the MALLARD males
are going into eclipse. Three CASPIAN TERNS flowed over the lake and then
were gone, leaving behind a lone OSPREY trying to hunt for fish and dodge
angry swallows at the same time.
