Hello All,
MerryLynn and I spent all morning (25 June)birding the west end of Walla
Walla Co. with the following results........

Birds seen at Iowa Beef/Tyson Ponds (7:50-9:35 A.M.)

Wilson's Phalarope.........11birds
Killdeer...........................32 birds
Lesser Yellowlegs...........11birds
Black-necked Stilt...........20 birds
Am. Avocet......................29 birds
Western Sandpipers..........18 birds
Least Sandpipers...............10 birds
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER..1bird this is our earliest data for this species in
Walla Walla Co.
Blk-crowned Night Heron...9 birds
Greater Yellowlegs...............1 bird
Spotted Sandpiper.................1 bird
Bank Swallow.......................60+
and 10 species of waterfowl.

Just a note on drawing attention to these ponds. We have gone and met with
the folks that own and operate the feedlot which is Simplot Inc. out of
Idaho. The best we could come up with was the current arrangement to be able
to view birds from east of the tracks. They asked that NO birders Trespass
across the tracks to the west. So please DO NOT mess up a great opportunity
to bird this location by pushing them for closer views at this time. These
are Idaho boys that have no love for birders and are currently just
tolerating our presents there. So please know that we have visited with
Simplot management and they agreed to let birders view the ponds from east
of the tracks.
Thank-you Mike
