It appears southbound shorebird migration is picking up already.

On 24 Jun Terry Gray reports 3 AMERICAN AVOCETS and an AMERICAN
GOLDEN-PLOVER at the Genesee sewage ponds in Nez Perce Co ID. Take Cow Creek
Road east from US 95 at milepost 329.8 about 0.25 mile to the pond. ID
DeLorme 58, C-1.

On 25 Jun Patrick and Ruth Sullivan saw 2 MARBLED GODWITS at the Walla Walla
River Delta in western Walla Walla Co WA. The delta can be accessed 0.1 mile
north of Madame Dorian Park, just north of the jct of US 12 and US 730.
There's a pull-out along US 12 at milepost 306.9 and a path to the delta. WA
DeLorme 40, D-1.

Nearby, on 26 Jun, Mike and MerryLynn Denny observed 11 WILSON'S PHALAROPES,
11 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 20 BLACK-NECKED STILTS, 29 AMERICAN AVOCETS, 18
WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 10 LEAST SANDPIPERS, a single SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER,
and a single GREATER YELLOWLEGS at the Iowa-Dodd Beef / Tyson Ponds. Mike
and MerryLynn have spoken to the managers of these ponds - from now on,
restrict yourselves to looking at the birds from the east side of the
tracks. Do not trespass onto the west side. Do not screw up a good birding
location by angering the owners. To get there, take Dodd-Iowa Beef Road east
at US 12 milepost 301.5 about 5.5 miles north of the jct of US 12 and US
730. Follow Dodd-Iowa east about 0.5 miles past the slaughter house, the
road goes down a little hill and then back up. At the top, turn right onto a
gravel road that used to be a railroad grade. Follow it to settling ponds.
WA DeLorme 40, CD-1.

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS reported more than a month ago by Bill and Nancy
LaFramboise at Horn Rapids County Park north of Richland, Benton Co WA were
still being observed through 25 Jun. Ruth and Patrick Sullivan report seeing
them then. The birds are apparently breeding; they can be seen carrying food
to a possible nest inside dense foliage. From Richland, take WA 240 toward
Vernita. The park is located just past the Horn Rapids Dam. Turn left toward
Benton City to the park entrance. The bird has been in the day-use area in
the smaller group of trees (locust and cottonwood). WA Delorme 39, AB-5.

Good birding.
