Hello all,
I went out to the Blaine Marine Park today with hopes of 1) catching the
tide right and 2) finding something cool. Well, I managed to do both as
there were two adult SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS mixed in with a group of seven
Western Sandpipers foraging close to the first picnic shelter at the park.
Their complete lack of rufous tones, and short blunt bills were distinctive,
especially when compared to the breeding plumaged Westerns they were grouped
with. I obtained photos (for documentation purposes) but I won't be able to
get them online for a couple days.
Good Migrations,
