Tweets,
somewhere near my house in east Renton, a pair of
Great-horned Owls have had a sucessful year. Last
night, right after dusk, I heard a lot of screeching
coming out of the trees around my house, from several
different directions. So I got my bins, and sat on
the deck awhile. And I watched for about 1/2 hour as
at least 3 GH Owls flew from tree-top to tree-top,
screeching and yelling at each other. Ah, domestic
bliss ;)
Even in the dim light, the ear tufts were easily seen.
At one point, one of them landed in the large Maple
tree in my yard, about 50 feet from me.
I did not hear any hooting, which rather surprised me.
Just a lot of screeching. I finally went to bed when
they flew around to the front side of the house, but I
heard them for at least another 1/2 hour.
Nice (if not tranquil) end of the day.
Guy
