Tweets - it was cloudy and inauspicious today, but it actually was pretty
nice. It didn't rain, there wasn't much wind, it wasn't too cold or too
hot. There *were* too many viscious mosquitos though. It was a pretty good
day for birds (especially for nice looks). It was also a really good day
for animal sightings.

Highlights:

Hooded Merganser Female with 2 "teens" at RC pond
Common Merganser Female with 4 ducklings at lake
Green Heron 2 sightings, including 2 from RC dock
Cooper's Hawk Both an adult and a subadult seen
CASPIAN TERN 1 far out over lake
BLACK SWIFT 3 seen rather early over weir
Rufous Hummingbird No adult males seen. Maybe all juvies.
Red-breasted Sapsucker 1 juvenile just before boardwalk
WARBLING VIREO Ollie has found a nest w/2 young at RC
Brown Creeper 2 NE of mansion
Yellow-rumped Warbler Adult and juvies NE of mansion
Black-headed Grosbeak First juvenile of year noted
Bullock's Oriole One glimpsed north of weir
Purple Finch Very cooperative singing male, more

Animal sightings included a RIVER OTTER at the lake (which flushed a
Pied-billed Grebe into a short flight), a nest of BALD-FACED HORNETS, and a
6-point buck BLACK-TAILED DEER at the Rowing Club.

For the day, 58 species.
