Hi Tweets,

Barbara and I spent 90 minutes walking around the upper area of Seattle's Lincoln Park yesterday, between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. A beautiful mid-day walk, temp in the mid-60s. We found lots of the usual suspects -- especially chickadees -- out in force, seeing that the newly-fledged young birds were finding food. Total species: 23

Downy Woodpecker -- 3 seen; male parent and male juvenile working on several trees in succession, making soft contact calls as they worked. 1 female foraging alone on a large snag.
Northern Flicker -- 10+ seen or heard
Western Wood-Pewee -- 1 calling repeatedly
Steller's Jay -- 1 seen, another heard
American Crow -- 12+ seen, and especially heard -- adults & juveniles
Black-capped Chickadee -- 20+ seen or heard
Chestnut-backed Chickadee -- 12+ seen or heard
Bushtit -- c. 6 seen & heard
Red-breasted Nuthatch -- 1 seen, 2 others heard
Brown Creeper -- 2 seen
Winter Wren -- at least 3 singing
Golden-crowned Kinglet -- 1 adult, 2 juveniles seen
Swainson's Thrush -- 2 heard
American Robin -- c. 10 seen & heard
Orange-crowned Warbler -- 2 birds pointed out to us by passers-by
Black-throated Gray Warbler -- 1 heard repeatedly
Wilson's Warbler -- 1 heard in thick understory
Western Tanager -- 1 female, 1 juvenile seen
Spotted Towhee -- 6 seen & heard
Song Sparrow -- 2 seen & heard
Dark-eyed Junco -- 2 seen
House Finch -- 1 male seen
House Sparrow -- 6+ seen near park edges

Good birding!
