Tweets,

Today 5 of us enjoyed a nice walk at Nisqually NWR. Now if we could all grow
to about 6 ft 6 in, we could all see over the tall grasses that line many of
the trail. Oh well, we survived.

Highlight of the day was a juvenile SORA along the trail out to McAllister
Creek. We all had good looks at this bird for at least 10 minutes..and it
stayed out in the open and kept getting closer to us! Not the way to survive in
that environment. But it gave us a great study!

We also found 2 active BUSHTIT nests and an active BROWN CREEPER nest. The
WOOD DUCKS have also done well as we had 2 active broods of about 10 young of
varying size.

BELTED KINGFISHERS were back after a long absence but raptors were still
conspicuous by their absence. Lots of young around, including way too many
COWBIRDS.

All told we had 39 species with nothing new for the year. the only mammal we
saw was a MINK out near McAllister Creek.

Next week we do the full loop, so until then.....
