Tweets - we ran into a bit of light drizzle today, and late in the morning
the wind picked up too, but we still had a pretty good morning birding.

GREEN HERON 2 quick looks at a gorgeous adult along slough
SWAN sp. One flying north a bit west of the slough
Anna's Hummingbird 1 at the feeder on the park office
Northern Shrike Adult in East Meadow
Brown Creeper 2 southeast of mansion
Wh.-throated Sparrow 1 with about 50 GCSP east of usual spot
Fox Sparrow Many (12-15), all "sooty", 1-2 singing
Western Meadowlark NINE in East Meadow, some singing

LOTS of singing - just about every passerine species that we saw was singing
at one point or another, especially Am. Robin, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Song
Sparrow, and House Finch.

One American Crow was carrying a stick east of the mansion.

The Indian Plum (Oso Berry) is in full bloom, as are more of the willow
species, and several of the ornamental plants around the mansion (forsythia,
flowering plums, daffodils, etc.) The Salmonberry is still a week or two
off at least, though.

At the Rowing Club, near the natural pond, we found more than a dozen
PACIFIC TREEFROGS on the grass near the water. There was a wide range of
sizes and colors.

For the morning, 52 species. For the year, adding Green Heron, the swan,
and Paula Flores' report of Yellow-rumped Warblers, we're now at 83 species
in 2005.
